Special thx to all those who emailed me ideas and suggestions.

Installation:

You should be able to just unzip to your Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind Directory.

If that doesn't work for you, do the following:

1. Put the armorer.esp file in your Morrowind/Data Files Directory
2. Put the .tga files in your Morrowind/Data Files/Icons and .dds Morrowind/Data Files/Textures Directory
3. Put the .nif files in your Morrowind/Data Files/Meshes Directory

Mod Compatability Disclaimer:

This mod should be compatible with all plug-ins running on Morrowind v1.2. This plug-in has passed my rigorous internal testing, plus a small public beta test. It should be near bug free and will not mess up your game.

If you want to use a save that was running an older version of Armorer(Beta 1.5 and below) do the following:

1. Uncheck Armorer from the Plug-in/Data Files Menu.
2. Load your save, you will get errors(sometimes many many errors) but load anyway.
3. Save your game and quit.
4. Install Armorer 1.9 and select it in the Plug-In/Data Files Menu
5. Load your save and play!

Failure to follow the above steps will result in plug-in objects being duplicated.

Changes from Beta 1.92

Armorer 1.93 is mainly a one fix release for the Mining Axe crash a lot of people were suffering from. I could find no reason for this crash besides Morrowind itself, therefore the way the Mining Axe works has been changed. I hope this will solve everyone's problems and I hope they can now use Armorer problem free.

- Equipping the mining axe will no longer display your skill information.
- The first time you equip your Mining Axe a scroll with be added to your inventory. Anytime you want to check what your Mining skill level is or how far away you are from a level, all you have to do read the scroll.

Changes from Beta 1.9(Unreleased Beta Testers version)

- Added forge to Dagon Fel
- Added ability to create Dreugh, Nordic Iron/Ringmail
- Added Ridak Mine(Guarded Interior Mining Area), Kelod Mine(Guarded Interior Mining Area) and the Tomb of Lheros(Dungeon)
- Removed Ordinator attack script from High Quality Indoril Armor
- Added Lheros Pupils Faction(PC Cannot Join. NPC only guild)
- Added New Dialog topics to Forge Vendors(Lheros' Pupils), ask about Master Lheros, Mining, Public Forges, etc
- Added Special Quest!! Ask about Master Lheros and his traitor apprentice! This quest has great rewards for miners/armorers alike. I recommened at least level 20+ to successfully complete it.
- Increased chance to unearth a gem for high level miners.
- Fixed Forge Vendors. They will actually attack you now if you steal something.

Changes from Beta 1.5:

- Implemented Mining and Smelting System (read description for instruction)
- Added Knoweldge book system for special armor creation (read description)
- Added ability to forge: Imperial Steel, Imperial Chain Imperial Templar, Orcish Armor and Indoril Armor
- Changed vendors (They no longer have an unlimited supply of resources)
- Fixed some menu bugs

Changes from Beta 1:

- Implemented Quality System. You can now create low and high quality for each type of armor. The random modifier and your skill determines which you create.
- Redone logic to be compatibile with the messed up way Morrowind executes scripts
- Added Steel and Iron Resources(Iron and Steel Ingots)
- Changed Dwemer Armor to use Scrap metal instead of Dwemer Coins
- Reduced weight of scrap metal. It was way too heavy to lug even small amounts around.
- Added Steel and Iron armor to blacksmithing system
- Added Sound Effects for creating armor
- Increased the armorer skill needed to create Ebony and Glass armor.
- Moved the Balmora Public Forge to make mod compatible with titanium mod.
- Added Public Forges to 4 other towns: Ebonheart, Sadrith Mora(Wolverine Hall), Ald'ruhn and Gnisis. Balmora still has its forge, its just be moved to the other side of town. Each forge has specific hammer types. Each forge is limited to two armor types.
- Added a resource vendor to Gnisis Forge
- Iron and Steel Ingots have alchmey properties and can be used in potions as well!

Known Issues with Beta 1.92:

Sometimes it will display the Mining skill increase message at the weirdest times. For example sometimes you'll exit an area and it will give you the skill increase message. This is not really a bug, your level really did go up but it just take effect until that point. This bug seems to be random.

When you equip the Mining Pick and it displays your experience, sometimes you will notice that your experience is actually higher than what you need to level. This is related to the issue above, usually loading a new area will cause your level to increase. This bug seems to be random.

Mod Description:

This is the 3rd release and final beta release of the blacksmithing mod that allows you to create your own armor! The system i've created is similar to the blacksmithing system used in Ultima Online. Here's how it works:

1. The current version of the mod allows you to smith 13 types of armor. Ebony, Glass, Bone, Dwemer, Steel, Iron, Imperial Templar, Imperial Chain, Imperial Steel, Orcish, Indoril, Nordic Iron/Ringmail and Dreugh.

The resources needed for armor creation are as follows:

Ebony Ingots (Abbrv. E)
Glass Ingots (Abbrv. G)
Bone Meal (No Abbrv.)
Dreugh Wax (No Abbrv.)
Dwemer Iron Ingots (Abbrv. DI)
Iron Ingots (Abbrv. I)
Steel Ingots (Abbrv. S)

You must create most of the above materials by smelting(see number 3). The raw materials used in smelting are below:

Raw Ebony -> Ebony Ingots
Raw Glass -> Glass Ingots
Scrap Metal* -> Dwemer Iron Ingots
Dwemer Iron Ore -> Dwemer Iron Ingots
Iron Ore -> Iron Ingots
Iron Ore -> Steel Ingots**

*It takes more pieces of scrap metal to create one Dwemer Iron Ingots than normal dwemer ore
**It takes more Iron Ore to create one steel ingot due to the purifying process.

You can obtain resources/raw materials by purchasing them, mining them(see number 2) or collecting them from areas around Vvardenfell. Some special types of armor will use two or more different materials in its creation. Some armor will also require that you find a knowledge book. See "number 4" for more information about knowledge books.

2. Mining is a new skill in Morrowind. It will not show up in your skill list, but it works exactly like a miscellaneous skill. Every character starts will 5 Mining. Equiping a mining pick will display your current mining skill and experience needed for a level. You will be notified of a level up normally like any other skill.

To mine you must first purchase a Mining Axe from a vendor. The public forge vendors usually have them for sale. After you have your axe you must find a Mining Area. You may want to purchase a mining guide(not cheap!) from the forge vendors, as finding a mining spot on your own will be very difficult. These areas are around Vvardenfell in mountainous regions. These areas contain mineable rocks formations. To mine simply equip your pick axe and hit these rock formations. What you find will depend on your mining skill. You mining skill increases the more you mine, even failed attempts will give a bit of experience. Skilled miners may even find rare gems.

Note: Mining is also a great companion to the alchemist. Ore and Ingots have unique chemical properites and can be used in potions. Experienced miners also uncover other great alchemy materials!

Note #2: Only the picks you purchase from forge vendors can be used to mine. The "Miner's Picks" you encounter during the game will NOT work.

Hint: Lheros was rumored to have powerful magical rings that increased his skill at mining...maybe these rings are still around. Talk to the forge vendors about Master Lheros for more detailed info.

3. Smelting is the process of changing raw materials into ingots used in metal working. Each public forge has been supplied with a "smelting hammer". To smelt your raw materials you simply activate this hammer and choose what materials you want to create. The smelting success rate is determined by your mining skill, you will also gain Mining experience by smelting. When you fail a smelting attempt you will lose some of the resource you attempted to smelt.

Smelting materials uses loop code, which may cause some pauses when you smelt or activate the hammer. The pauses should be barely noticable, but if you notice a longer pause you know what's causing it. In the unlikely event you encounter a hard lock(no hard lock bugs should slip thru testing) when smelting please email me asap.

Note: Scrap Metal will be converted to Dwemer Ore instantly when activating a Smelting Hammer. So if you want to keep your Scrap metal for alchemy uses don't activate a smelting hammer with it in your inventory.

4. "Knowledge Books" are books written by the master smith of Vvardenfell, Lheros. Lheros' books contain the diagrams and instructions necessary to create the more unique armors of Morrowind. His books also let the reader create high quality versions of the armor described! Knowledge books are required for the following armor sets:

Imperial Chain
Imperial Steel
Imperial Templar
Orcish Armor
Indoril(Ordinator) Armor(Note: Due to popular demand Ordinators will NOT attack you for wearing the Indoril you have created)

The hammers for creating the above armor sets are available at the public forges. But you won't be able to use these hammers unless you have the knowledge book for that armor type in your inventory. Please read the knowledge book for information and for the resources required.

Lheros' books are VERY rare and expensive and only one or two may exist for each armor type. The books are available in logical places...but I will give you some hints. If you don't want hints don't read the next part!!! If you want even more detail information on where to get these books please ask the forge vendors.

Lheros on Orcish Style: It is rumored that this book is somewhere around or in Gnisis.

Lheros on Imperial Chain, Lheros on Imperial Steel, Lheros on Imperial Templar: It is rumored copies of these books are owned and coveted by the Imperial Legon or the Imperial Cult. They may be for sale in any one of the Imperial forts or maybe Ebonheart.

Lheros on Indoril Style: Unknown. Although it IS known that the book has never left Vivec. It was lost years ago in a thieves guild raid of the Hall of Justice. The Ordinators have been searching for the book ever since.

5. Smithing is limited to public forges located in the larger towns around Vvardenfell. Unlike repairing items you can't blacksmith anywhere! Public forges exist in Balmora, Gnisis, Dagon Fel, Ald'ruhn, Ebonheart and Sadrith Mora: Wolverine Hall. Each forge allows you to smith different materials.

6. To smith some armor walk up to the forge and you should see hammers lying there. Each armor type has its own hammer. Ebony Smithing Hammer, Glass Smithing Hammer, etc. To start smithing walk up to the desired hammer and activate it. You cannot pick up or steal these hammers. After activating the hammer you will see a menu asking you want to make and the cost. Choose what you want to make and voila. You will be notified of your success or failure.

7. Your success in smithing an item is determined by your Armorer skill and a random modifier based on the armor type. You do gain experience from successfully creating an item. The experience you gained is NOT displayed in the armorer experience bar in the skill menu. It is stored and saved in a hidden variable and you will be notified when you level up as normal.

Note: Jacking Strength with fority potions has NO EFFECT on creating armor!!

8. Public Forges have vendors who sell the materials and equipment you need...but they now have a limited supply.

If you encounter any bugs or have suggestions on balancing and resource usage don't hesitate to email me at indy@gamerzalliance.com.
